FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oakville, Ont., June 12, 2025 – The Oakville Community Foundation and its Fundholders granted out more than $4.8 million last year into the community and beyond, making for a total of $69 million since its inception in 1994 to 2024.
At $140 million in charitable investments, the Oakville Community Foundation is one of the largest out of more than 200 community foundations in Canada.
The grants, along with anniversary celebrations and other achievements, are in the newly released 30th Anniversary Annual Report, presented as a scrapbook of memories from The Foundation’s 30th year in the community.
Other highlights include:
- The planting of 300 trees as part of The Foundation’s 30th Anniversary celebrations,
- Placing number 10 on Canada’s Top 50 Equitable Funders list,
- Providing 30 education awards to local students for post-secondary education,
- Raising nearly $1 million through the GIVEOakville campaign,
- And so much more!
“With 400 Funds and a network of generous Fundholders and donors, the Oakville Community Foundation is proof that Oakville is a generous community,” said Wendy Rinella, CEO of the Oakville Community Foundation. “We’re grateful to everyone who has volunteered, donated and engaged with The Foundation and to the amazing collection of charities in our community that continue to serve and support our neighbours.”
Also included is a small look-back at the differences in our community and The Foundation over the past 30 years. Some of these differences include the housing prices, from $255,000 in 1994 to $1.3 million at present, as well as The Foundation’s single-year grants, from $4,000 to $4 million.
The Foundation was created in 1994 thanks to a group of visionaries who saw a need for a charitable organization that would hold the interests of the community at heart. This group of founders were able to see the benefits that a local community foundation would offer, like keeping an eye on the community’s evolving challenges and putting resources where they are needed most.
