Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin

Fundraising goal: $25,000

Habitat Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin is known for putting a spotlight on community needs and community-based solutions. Our Tiny Home pilot project came to life as a unique solution to the housing crisis in our communities. An important part of this pilot is to provide skills and training opportunities to youth, equipping them with the hands-on experience they need to maintain and/or build new homes in their communities. This is executed through our partnership with the Halton District School Board. Over 100 Students in their Skilled Trades program will help construct 5 New Tiny Homes during the 2021-2022 school year. These will be built on school facilities under the supervision of their faculty and Habitat HMD’s Tiny Home Construction Manager. In our efforts to find communities who would most benefit from these Tiny Homes, our partners and colleagues at Habitat For Humanity Grey-Bruce connected us with – The Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation Community to provide an innovative solution to their housing crisis
