Halton Region has been particularly impacted by the housing crisis, with the highest shelter costs in the province. At Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin, we are working to address the affordable housing crisis.
Our housing program provides a hand-up, not a hand out. We primarily serve local, working, lower-income households facing core housing needs such as unaffordability, overcrowding, or inadequate housing. Partner families are required to contribute 500 hours of volunteer work, and their monthly housing payments are set at no more than 30% of their gross income.
For every $1 invested in a Habitat home, there is a $4 social return on investment to the community.
