Oakville’s community generosity raises almost $920K for local charities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oakville, Ont., January 13, 2025 – The Oakville Community Foundation is thrilled to announce that the 2025 GIVEOakville campaign raised almost $920,000 for local Oakville charities, thanks to the generosity and support of the Oakville community.

GIVEOakville is a local crowdfunding campaign run annually by the Oakville Community Foundation, most recently from November 15 to December 9, 2025. The campaign makes it easy to give to Oakville-based charities through a single online platform and offers benefits like no transaction fees, meaning all donations go directly to the charity.

In total, $916,227 was raised and granted to the more than 65 charities that participated in the campaign in 2025. This includes top-up funding from The Foundation, as well as additional funding given to charities that are racialized or gender-equity led or focused.

New this year, donors could make a donation to a cause and have their donation split among those charities. Donors can now also contribute  to a general GIVEOakville Fund year-round. These funds are shared with all the participating GIVEOakville Charities, and any money raised now will benefit the 2026 campaign.

“The Foundation is extremely grateful to all of the generous donors and our Fundholders for their support of Oakville charities,” said Wendy Rinella, CEO of the Oakville Community Foundation. “GIVEOakville keeps donations local and proves that when we all come together as a community, we can make a significant difference.”

To launch the campaign, The Foundation held its award-winning GIVEOakville LIVE! event at Appleby College on November 16. Community members had the opportunity to meet the participating GIVEOakville charities and learn more about their important work in our community.

The OCF would like to thank the members of the GIVEOakville Leadership Council, which was an integral driving force behind readying the campaign and connecting with donors. Thank you to:
