Alison Moeller is The Foundation’s Chief Financial Officer, who brings more than 26 years of financial experience in the non-profit sector. Alison has lived in Oakville for 22 years with her husband, Nik and together they have two teenage daughters. She has been at The Foundation for over six years and she’s responsible for overseeing all Finance, Administration and Investment strategies.
Alison is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University. She began her career as an auditor in the Healthcare and Not-for-Profit sector at Ernst & Young, which included a year’s secondment to Wellesley Hospital’s finance department.
After five years at Ernst & Young, she transitioned from public accounting and assurance to other leadership roles within the nonprofit finance sector at the Canadian Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute of Canada, the Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation, and the Canadian Partnership against Cancer. She has also served as a volunteer Grant Panel Financial Representative for the United Way of Greater Toronto, and as Treasurer and a Board member of the Oakville Parent Child Center. Throughout her career, Alison has maintained a commitment to the charitable sector, and her personal goal is to give back wherever possible.
Due to her extensive experience working with charities, Alison brings a background of caring and understanding and knows that even in her role as an accountant, helping people is at the forefront of everything she does. She attributes her love of philanthropy to her parents, who were both teachers, and have both been active volunteers and board members for numerous local community organizations in the Ottawa Valley.
“They always taught me that community is larger than just your family, and devoting your time to causes you believe in is always worth doing.” This passion for philanthropy and community support is one that she hopes she can continue to model for her two teenage daughters.
Alison not only carries a wealth of knowledge when it comes to finance, but is also an amateur dressage rider, and is always willing to show you pictures of her Irish Draught. Outside of the office, you can find Alison riding her horse, travelling with her family, and raising two amazing young women, her daughters Carolyn and Rebecca.
During her time at The Foundation, Alison serves as a fantastic leader, who always brings a positive mindset, a deep love for what she does, and of course, a horse tale or two.
