This Fund is intended to demonstrate that we have each other’s backs and together we can be confident in tackling the challenges of this pandemic as a community. Our community will benefit from strong positive actions to reassure our neighbours that we are here to support each other.
All charities need our assistance as their primary fundraising activities like events and donor meetings cannot take place during the State of Emergency. Charities on the front lines face greater demands for their services at a time when volunteers and fundraising are limited. So we’re asking you, our Fundholders, if you’ve not already granted this year, please consider doing so now and direct your grants online to the Oakville Resiliency Fund.
With the help of our generous donors this fund has already distributed $100,000 to the local community!
The First Phase is focused on “Community Heroes” charities on the front lines still operating and focused on health and well-being, shelter, food and support to vulnerable populations.The first phase of grants will not be application based, but target critical needs with direct grants. We will be granting in coordination with other granters and with advice from the Halton Region COVID 19 Action Table to ensure critical needs are addressed.
Community Heroes Phase specifics include:
- focused on front-line charities providing health and well-being, shelter, food and serving vulnerable populations
- 100% of the donation to the Fund will go directly to charities no credit card or administration fees applied;
- It will be a flow-through fund, not endowed; and
- The Halton Region COVID Response Action Table will provide advice on distribution of grants to charities.
The second phase: Recovery and Rebuild, will focus on the recovery and rebuilding of
our community’s local charitable sector to avoid any gaps in funding the services and support
our community requires post this unsettling time and beyond.
