Canadian Caribbean Association of HaltonChildren, Youth & Families
Fundraising goal: $25,000
This program is intergenerational. It was inspired by, developed, and implemented by Caribbean and Black seniors. It emphasizes the important role seniors play in mentoring at-risk youth, and passes along to Black children a sense of self and a positive cultural identity, taught in a culturally-appropriate and culturally-safe program that supports them and their families. This program benefits the overall community via many public performances. CCAH is an inclusive Black-led organization with the philosophy that when the community thrives as a whole each demographic and culture thrives. Increased community interaction breaks down barriers and builds bridges of understanding between police, cultural groups, schools, and institutions.
