The Raise Your Voice Council is composed of 15 self advocates with a developmental disability, aimed to increase equitable access and participation in community life for adults with a developmental disability who would otherwise not have access or opportunities.
Recognizing the correlation between social connectivity and affiliation with social networks, based on shared interests and quality of life, the Raise Your Voice Council organizes a variety of recreational, social and education opportunities. Opportunities are open to all adults with a developmental disability across Halton and encourage full community participation while decreasing isolation. The Council’s activities also assist families who lack support, reducing family hardships.
