Safetynet Children and Youth ServicesChildren, Youth & Families
The Safetynet Tutoring Program assists youth who are living in poverty and not achieving their academic potential. Many students have fallen behind due to school absence, trauma, or learning challenges, and are highly vulnerable. They are often receiving help at school, but need more. Although their families are diverse, they all want to support their child’s success but cannot pay for tutoring. Our program provides a supportive environment with capable and compassionate volunteer tutors who help students catch up and stay up to date with their studies. In addition to the impact on academic performance, the positive effect of success in school on self-esteem and mental health is critical to crisis prevention for the students we serve.
