The R&R Club+ will address the urgent COVID-related need for mental health, physical activity and learning support for low-income/BIPOC children in Oakville, many of whom have experienced trauma and amplified learning gaps. The project utilizes a trauma-informed approach that improves children’s physical, academic, social and psychological well-being.
The R&R Club+ program combines Start2Finish’s existing in-person Running & Reading Club after-school program (1x/wk, 50 kids) with an innovative virtual component (2x/wk, small virtual “hubs” of 8-10 kids each), increasing service frequency to 3x/week. Sessions promote mentorship through S2F’s enhanced social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum, and physical activity and literacy support.
